Unfortunately, there are only 5 Kentucky Dom chicks left from the original 9.
The egg production has just about stopped. Last week I gathered 3 or 4 dozen but there's only an egg here and there now.
The Corn Consumption has risen sharply in the past 2 weeks. Most of the chickens eat whole shelled corn which is a lot cheaper than other feeds for chickens. It's all we can afford. I save the starter feed and cracked corn for the smaller chicks and any chickens that are caged.
When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendant will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, "See! This our father did for us." -John Ruskin
